It can be placed out of sight with the included IR receiver and controlled via the included remote. Other features include signal retiming support, Power-off memory, Over-voltage protection, and LED status indication. Great solution for home theater with multiple video/audio devices (with Optical out), but only one Optical input on the amplifier or receiver.</span></span>
