Henna
Henna has traditionally been used extensively in India and many other countries/cultures on various occasions to decorate hands and feet. A more modern use is for colouring hair. Both these applications of Henna are known worldwide, and with the populations increasingly shifting to natural items, more and more people are switching to Henna because this is a purely natural product with no chemicals.
Apart from colouring the hair, there are many other benefits of Henna, which can be derived with regular use. A few are listed below.
· It is a natural conditioning agent for hair.
· It helps in strengthening hair roots, thereby reducing the problem of hair fall.
· It forms a protective layer on hair upon application, thus prevents the hair from getting brittle, protects them from UV rays and pollution.

Today there are basically 2 categories of Henna being manufactured and sold in the markets. First is the Natural variety and the other is the Henna Based Hair Colours / Dyes.
Natural Henna Hair Colours and Conditioners
Natural Henna is the powdered form of the leaves of the Henna plant (botanical name: Lawsonia Inermis) with no additives. This is totally harmless compared to chemicals based hair dyes / colours as it does not cause any allergies, that some people get from using the chemical hair dyes / colours.
There are mainly 2 varieties of the colouring variety of Natural Henna and 1 variety that does not give any colour. These are
· Red Colouring Natural Henna: Upon application this gives a reddish-orange colour to the hair.
· Dark Red Colouring Natural Henna: Upon application this gives a dark red colour to the hair.
· Colourless Hair Conditioning Natural Henna: as the name implies, does not leave any colour on hair after application but has all the other remaining qualities of the colouring variety of Henna. It can be used even on dyed hair without disturbing the existing hair colour. This is an excellent hair conditioner.
A fourth variety which is known as Herbal Henna has been developed by mixing Red Henna Powder with exclusive Himalayan herbs like Anwala (Emblie Myrobalan), Brahmi (Indian Pennywort), Baal Chhad (Spikenard), Harad (Black Myrobolan), Bhringraj (Traling Eclipta), etc. etc., all known for their beneficial qualities for hair.
Henna Based Hair Colours
Increasingly, people want to colour their hair in different shades but wish to use mostly natural products with least possible chemicals. Since Natural Henna gives shades of red, and orange, this led to the development of Henna Based Hair Colours. These contain more than 50% Natural Henna when compared to the other hair dyes / colours available in the market which are 100% chemical.
